The latest creative collaboration by Melbourne-based fashion brand Obus sees artist Olana Janfa translate his imagery and colour palette from original paintings for a limited-edition collection, as part of an ongoing dialogue centering on art and fashion. Olana only began painting a year ago and has quickly gained the attention of the creative community in Australia and beyond for his work that references both his Ethiopian heritage and his experiences navigating life as a migrant in Norway and Australia. Helmed by owner and founder Kylie Zerbst, Obus has a reputation for collaborating with artists including Kirra Jamison, but also for its ethical manufacture and social conscience; Obus partners annually with social enterprises and not-for-profits. Through the Olana collaboration Obus will be raising funds for Create Impact, an Australian not-for-profit organisation that provides education, water and health care to remote communities in Ethiopia. Obus will host a group art auction featuring Olana’s paintings in Melbourne alongside works from other Australian artists who have taken part in Create Impact’s community support programs in Ethiopia. OLANA X OBUS is in stores and online now.
