SAVAGE

Esteemed Wiradjuri choreographer Daniel Riley was appointed the new artistic director of Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) in mid-2021. His experience includes choregraphing more than fifteen works with multiple companies across Australia and overseas – such that his first major full-length work for ADT is much anticipated. Premiering in September 2022, SAVAGE is performed by a multi-generational cast and presents a collection of ideas across eras, asking audiences to consider the truths and lies that capture our hearts and minds. Working with leading director Kate Champion, Worimi artist Dean Cross, lighting designer Matthew Adey and composer James Howard, SAVAGE builds to an urgent piece of dance theatre that looks at the subjectivity inherent in belief systems and probes at the trust that underpins those systems. SAVAGE premieres on Kaurna Country, showing at the Adelaide Festival Centre from September 21–25, 2022 before touring to Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country where it will be staged at the Canberra Theatre Centre from September 29–30, 2022.
