HIGH FIVE!
HIGH FIVE! celebrates the fifth anniversary of the sole contemporary art centre in Europe dedicated to promoting Australian Aboriginal art. For the exhibition, Fondation Opale challenged 26 figures from the Swiss cultural scene – including artists, writers and collectors, as well as a neuroscientist and a watchmaker – to choose a work of contemporary Australian Aboriginal art from their collections and put forward a ‘mirror’ work that they own, that they have created or that the foundation could borrow. HIGH FIVE! features more than sixty Australian Aboriginal and international works, ranging from a few centimetres in size to large-scale, site-specific installations, all against an original scenography designed by Pavillon Trois studio. Fondation Opale also engaged Daniel Browning, journalist and artist from the Bundjalung and Kullilli communities, to document this artistic dialogue through a series of colorful interviews featured in an eponymous publication accompanying the exhibition. HIGH FIVE! continues until April 14, 2024.
