Vera Molnár: Speak to the Eye

In 2024, the Centre Pompidou has devoted a major exhibition to Hungarian-born artist Vera Molnár, who passed away in December of 2023. Considered a pioneer of computer and generative art movements, as well as being one of the first women to incorporate digital art into her practice, Molnár developed a systems-based approach to her work from as early as the 1940s. The tribute retrospective Speak to the Eye draws on public French collections, including that of the Pompidou itself, assembled largely thanks to the artist’s own generous contributions. Alongside paintings, works on paper, sculpture, photography and wall installations – including a very recent one created by the artist especially for the exhibition – Molnár’s personal diaries will be exhibited together for the first time, honouring a career exceptional in longevity and creative output. Speak to the Eye continues until August 26, 2024.
