TIME • RONE
Multi-disciplinary artist Rone’s TIME first appeared and sold out in Melbourne between 2022 and 2023. Now, it takes over the Centenary Galleries at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA), with expanded staging and a Perth-exclusive new room. On a grand scale, Rone blends soundscape, mural and installation to evoke a mid-century past frozen and preserved in a detritus-strewn, timeworn state under layers of dust. While the ceiling cracks and paint peels, life persists – the forgotten is honoured, and the viewer is immersed in a profound revelation of the beauty in decay. At AGWA, the installation also includes an intimate dining experience and a bar set inside the ambient surroundings, serving a curation of libations designed to transport visitors to another moment in time.
