Old Stories New Magic
At Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Old Stories New Magic brings together artists Michelle Gearin, Linde Ivimey, Naomi Kantjurinyi, Adam Lee, Sarker Protick, Julia Robinson and Heather B. Swann. Ranging from depictions of the spirit forces inhabiting Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands to contemporary folklore and the surreal, the exhibition maps the realms of old stories, other worlds and ancient, ongoing magic. It considers how and why these stories, and our fascination with the dreamy subconscious, persist through time and place. Old Stories New Magic continues until October 6, 2024.
