Africa Fashion

Africa Fashion – curated by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, where it previously showed – features the most extensive collection of fashions from Africa to ever be presented in an Australian art institute. The exhibition includes more than fifty designers and artists from 20 countries. Internationally recognised names, such as Kofi Ansah, Chris Seydou and Shade Thomas-Fahm are featured alongside a new generation of creatives, including Thebe Magugu, Imane Ayissi, IAMISIGO and Lisa Folawiyo. Africa Fashion is organised chronologically and thematically – from the African independence movement to the liberation years – with a distinct focus on individuality and diverse cultural perspectives. Also featuring significant photographic portraiture from several decades, the exhibition runs until October 6, 2024.
