The Future & other Fictions
Speculative future as imagined by screen culture is the heart of ACMI’s major exhibition The Future & Other Fictions. Organised around the key themes ‘How do we imagine?’, ‘What worlds exist’ and‘Who will we be?’, the exhibition comprises more than 180 works of film, videogames, costumes and more from 19 creative visionaries. Hannah Brontë and Liam Young with Natasha Wanganeen offer two new commissions, alongside other highlights including Academy Award-winning costumes from Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), Björk’s mesmerising music video ‘The Gate’(2017), and miniature sets from director Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi blockbuster Blade Runner 2049 (2017). The Future & Other Fictions continues until April 27, 2025.
