Frida Kahlo: In Her Own Image

A series of incredible objects sealed for 50 years inside Frida Kahlo’s Blue House – now Museo Frida Kahlo – in Mexico City comprises the intimate exhibition Frida Kahlo: In Her Own Image. Offering a fresh perspective on the icon through personal ephemera, medical objects, cosmetics, traditional Mexican garments and more, the exhibition, exclusively showing in Australia at Bendigo Art Gallery, reveals an artist whose carefully constructed image was paramount to her creative expression. Her revolutionary style – born from a range of personal, political, artistic and philosophical influences – illuminated the way she styled herself and her home, her paintings and drawings. In Her Own Image runs from March 15 to July 13, 2025.
