Shape Shifters: A Retrospective of Australian Collage
Since the early 20th century, collage has been a popular method of image manipulation explored by many artists. Its applications are myriad and its execution accessible, so it’s no surprise that renowned Australian artists have experimented with, or dedicated their practices to, collage. Wollongong Art Gallery’s Shape Shifters retrospective brings together works in fabric, paper, moving and digital images and found or domestic objects. Featured artists include Suzanne Archer, Richard Bell, Mike Brown, Grace Crowley, Juan Davila, James Gleeson, Ken Reinhard, Guy Warren and Brett Whiteley, whose collage practices reveal the evolution of repurposed materials, concepts and subjects within Australian practice. Shape Shifters continues until March 2, 2025.
