Tender
Ngununggula’s new exhibition seeks to move beyond the gendered associations of care and femininity tied to the etymology of the word ‘tender’. Through new and existing works by several women artists in the traditionally male-dominated medium of painting, the show expands the understanding of the word as a multifaceted human experience woven into form, life and expression. From physical gestures and sensory perceptions to how people feel about and express themselves, Tender appraises a significant emotion, enriched by intimate and personal insights into gender, identity, representation, the body, domesticity, womanhood, motherhood and mental health. Having opened on April 12, Tender will continue until June 15, 2025.
