25TH BIENNALE OF SYDNEY 2026: REMEMORY
The 25th Biennale of Sydney, titled Rememory, will be presented free to the public across 5 major sites – White Bay Power Station, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Chau Chak Wing Museum, Campbelltown Arts Centre and Penrith Regional Gallery – under the creative direction of internationally-acclaimed curator Hoor Al Qasimi. Taking its name from a term coined by writer Toni Morrison, this exhibition explores how memory and history function as acts of revisiting and reclaiming erased narratives, highlighting First Nations voices, marginalised histories and global diasporas through works by 53 artists from 31 countries. Artists include Nikesha Breeze, Dennis Golding, Nahom Teklehaimanot, Joe Namy, Richard Bell, Wendy Hubert, and Joana Hadjithomas & Khalil Joreige. Featuring large-scale installations, immersive environments and site- specific projects, Rememory reimagines historical and contemporary experiences. Al Qasimi notes that the exhibition “illuminates overlooked and forgotten histories while celebrating the resilience and creativity of communities worldwide.”The Biennale of Sydney will run from March 14 to June 14, 2026.
