Mitch Cairns: Artist’s Mouth
In collaboration with the National Art School Gallery, the IMA is presenting the notable collection of Mitch Cairns: Artist’s Mouth. Since his education at the National Art School, Cairns has increasingly emerged as a significant contemporary artist through his unique intellect and visual display. Marking 20 years since his graduation, Artist’s Mouth houses the range that Cairns has produced, centring around cubism, comics and concrete poetry, to emit puzzling and riddle-like visual displays. Cairns’s almost comedic interaction with conundrums and illusions curates a unique series that embodies his creative character. The IMA has partnered with the NAS gallery, Sydney to bring this popular exhibition to Queensland from October 10 to December 20.
