Man on Fire: Visions of Nebuchadnezzar
Commissioned by Bundanon, Man on Fire: Visions of Nebuchadnezzar brings together a major new work by Shaun Gladwell in dialogue with the enduring mysticism of Arthur Boyd. Created specifically for the Bundanon landscape, Gladwell’s ambitious commission responds to Boyd’s celebrated Nebuchadnezzar paintings, reinterpreting their biblical themes through the lens of contemporary masculinity, hubris and the human condition. Installed alongside Boyd’s works, the exhibition reveals a compelling intergenerational conversation, demonstrating the continued resonance of Boyd’s vision while affirming Gladwell as one of Australia’s most incisive contemporary artists. Man on Fire: Visions of Nebuchadnezzar runs until October 11.
